There are as many types of facials as there are skincare lines and spas. Facials are formulated for various skin conditions and skin types, from fighting acne to unclogging pores, and even to hiding wrinkles and firming up your skin. There are high-tech facials as well as regular stem-and-cream variants. In this article, we’ll be comparing the European facial to regular facial.

OVERVIEW OF FACIALS
Treating yourself to a facial is one of the best luxuries you can give to yourself. It is a beauty treatment where your neck and face are given priority. When doing a facial, your facial tissues are gently cleansed and massaged to promote relaxation.
In many cases, a facial begins with a visit to a spa or a salon as well as a consultation with a professional esthetician. The esthetician takes charge of the treatment. He/she cleanses your skin and examines it under a bright light and also gives a detailed analysis of the type and condition of your skin. With a facial treatment, your esthetician can determine any concerns that may affect your skin and recommend the right products to use.
Now, let’s compare the European facial to regular facials.
EUROPEAN FACIALS
A European facial is also known as a classic facial. It uses essential elements. Your esthetician will cleanse and exfoliate your skin and may apply a toner. Your skin is softened with steam. The steam also helps to loosen the pores. Extractions are done to unclog the pores atter which a facial massage is done to enhance circulation to the face. A custom mask will then be made for the specific skin type and a moisturizer is used afterward. A European facial can be completed between an hour (60 minutes) and 90 minutes.
So, while a European facial may take longer to complete, it has several benefits including:
Pros of a European facial
A European facial is best for those with acne problems and other skin conditions. The manual extractions and steam cleansing unclogs the blocked pores and minimizes breakouts. With a regular European facial, there will be an outstanding improvement in your overall skin condition.
Does it have any cons?
Well, some people may be allergic to some of the products used for the European facial process. If you have a history of allergies, or your skin is very sensitive, then be sure to inform your esthetician when you meet with him/her.
REGULAR FACIALS
A regular facial, also known as a mini facial is an abbreviated version of the European or classic facial. A mini facial is best if you’re on a tight budget or you have very little time on your hand because they are less expensive and can be completed in less than 30 minutes. Regular facials provide exfoliation, cleansing, and moisturizer just like the European facial. However, they do not provide extractions.
Which should you go for?
We’ll recommend that you try a European facial as they are very relaxing when done by a professional esthetician. Be sure to consult your physician if you have any pre-existing skin condition like psoriasis or eczema, or any other inflammatory condition.
With a European facial, you’ll have your skin feeling refreshed. However, you must stay away from direct sunlight for some hours after therapy. The deep cleansing and exfoliation process increases the sensitivity of your skin to the ultraviolet light from the sun. If you have to go outdoors, then be sure to apply sunblock or cover up.
